Clayton G. Clements

Clayton G. Clements, 76, of Plymouth, passed away on Monday, April 15, at his home in Plymouth. He was the devoted husband of the late Brenda Gayle Lane; loving father of Robert Lane and his wife Michele of Ludlow; Erik Lane and his wife Amy of Plymouth; the late Paul Lane, and Brenda Lane. He was also the grandfather of Matthew, Michael, Mykel, Erik Jr., Emma, Charlotte, Brayden, Jessica, Benjamin, Joseph, and the late Dominic; the great grandfather of Journey, Memphis, and Harper; brother of Marvin Clements and his wife Debbie of Rhode Island; brother in-law of Jeffrey Hawkins and his wife Amy of Oregon; and Donny Briffett and his wife Lois of Plymouth. Clayton is also survived by his “pride and joy,” his dog Darcey.

Born in Plymouth on May 4, 1947, son of the late William G. and Pearl M (Young) Clements, Clayton grew up in Plymouth and was a graduate of the Plymouth school system. Following his service in the United States Army, he started working with BIW in Cordage Park. Clayton went on to retire from Verizon after many dedicated years.

He loved to travel with his wife. The two of them visited the Grand Canyon, Aruba, New Orleans, and went on too many cruises to name. Clayton was an avid car collector and typewriter collector. He was also a bodybuilder and would faithfully work out in his home gym. He will be sorely missed.

A graveside service will be held at Vine Hills Cemetery, Plymouth, on Monday, April 22, at 10 a.m. Donations in Clayton’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
