This year’s state primary on Tuesday, Sept. 3, features two particularly competitive races, with six candidates vying for state representative and three for state senator. Who will you vote for? The League of Women Voters wants to help you make an informed decision, and is providing a chance to meet the candidates, ask questions, and learn more about where they stand on important issues. Join the candidates and your fellow voters at the LWV Candidates Forum on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Plymouth Town Hall’s Great Hall.
This event will also be broadcast live on TV Government Access Channels 9 and 47, as well as live streamed. Following the event, a recording of the forum will be available on the LWV website.
Participating candidates include:
Candidates for senator, Plymouth and Barnstable district
- Kari MacRae (R)
- Mathew Muratore (R)
Candidates for representative, First Plymouth District (Plymouth Precincts 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18)
- Michelle L. Badger (D)
- Jesse G. Brown (R)
- Arthur Thomas Desloges (D)
- Scott Francis Hokanson, Sr. (D)
- Stephen Michael Palmer (D)

Note that candidates who are running for uncontested seats in the primary are not participating in this forum. These candidates, however, will be invited to participate in the next candidates forum scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24, preceding the general election in November.
For additional voter information, there are a number of excellent online resources. Plymouth voters can visit the town website for election dates, polling locations, and sample ballots, as well as information on voter registration, vote by mail, or in-person early voting. Massachusetts voter and election information is also available here, or here.
The League of Women Voters encourages everyone to vote and wants you to be confident as you cast your ballot. The candidates forum is a great way to educate yourself on the candidates and the issues.
