Nye at Night: Star Party (Sandwich)
August 11 @ 8:00 pm
Honoring the seafaring history of East Sandwich, Larry Brookhart of the Harwich Observatory will be onsite and will provide information on basic astronomy including celestial navigation.
This is a rare opportunity to visit the museum at night. Attendees will enjoy looking at the night sky together with Mr. Brookhart, museum staff, and other astronomy enthusiasts. Telescopes will be on site for attendees to use. Attendees may also bring their own telescope if they wish.
This event is free and open to all ages thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Cape Cod Foundation. Registration required at info@nyemuseum.org or by calling 508-888-4213. Rain cancels event.
Larry Brookhart taught technology and computer science classes for 24 years at Harwich Elementary School in Harwich, Massachusetts. Twelve years ago, he, along with fellow astronomers Tom Leach and Dr. Timothy Barker, professor of astrophysics at Wheaton College, created The Harwich Observatory located at Harwich Elementary School. Over the years Mr. Brookhart has introduced students to enrichment programs including creating animations, programming computer games, building robots and exploring celestial wonders.
Free, but RSVP to let us know you’re coming! Rain cancels the event. Donations gratefully accepted to support the Nye Museum.
