Valerie Ann Thomas

Valerie Ann Thomas, 74, of Plymouth, passed away on Aug. 7, surrounded by her loving family.

Valerie was born in Boston on March 14, 1950, to Joseph and Wanda Stefens. At the age of nine her family moved to Cape Cod, where she spent many days at Craigsville Beach and eventually discovered her love for the arts. Valerie studied art at the Southeastern Massachusetts Technical Institute, where she fell in love with Michael D. Thomas, her husband of 51 years. Valerie dedicated her career to instilling the love of art to the children of Sacred Heart Elementary School. She retired in 2020 after 32 years. Her other passions included travel, baking, gardening, and spending time with family poolside.

Valerie was preceded in death by her father. Jospeh Stefens, and her mother, Wanda Stefens (Hryniewicki).

Valerie is survived by her devoted husband; her older brother, Joseph, and his wife Susan Stefens; her four loving sons, Michael and his wife, Jennifer, Matthew and his wife Christine, Kevin and his wife, Ann, and Gregory and his wife, Jennifer; and her seven cherished grandchildren, Carlos, Brody, Elena, Norah, Josephine, Sophia, and Addison. They will never forget the love she brought to their lives.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday Aug. 13, at Cartmell-Davis Funeral Home at 373 Court St. Plymouth, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday Aug. 14, at St. Peter’s Church on Court Street in Plymouth at 10:30 a.m.
