I first toured Plymouth in the mid-1970s and that was the last time I did any official “touring” of the sites you mentioned (Bill Fornaciari’s Sept. 17 History & Architecture column).  On the other hand, I have summered and now lived here since 1978 – that’s 46 years, but who’s counting?  I can tell you a lot about the woods, trails, and ponds around the Six Ponds area, since I have a home on Long Pond, but not much about the historic homes located in the central business area. Mr. Fornaciari’s excellent piece has put me on notice. Next summer, for sure.

Thanks for the intriguing information.  I look forward to seeing every site mentioned. However, Mr. Fornaciari, how much do you know about the history of the summer communities in our Six Ponds neighborhood?  There’s a lot of history here:  Helen Storrow, (of Storrow Drive fame), the Fourth of July flag raising, Mrs. Steinway’s history of Long Pond, Pinewoods Dance Camp, the Girl Scout camps.  You’ll have to come visit sometime soon.
