Old Burying Ground Cemetery Tour (Duxbury)
October 30 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Enjoy a cemetery tour with DRHS Archivist and Historian, Carolyn Ravenscroft. The Old Burying Grounds, also called the Standish Burial Grounds, sits on 1.44 acres. It was the first burial ground in Duxbury and the second in Plymouth Colony. It is believed that the First Meeting House of Duxbury once stood on the cemetery property.
Along with Captain Myles Standish, the cemetery was the final resting place of many of the other early settlers of Duxbury, including John and Priscilla Alden.
Join us to hear stories about our Colonial past and learn about the earliest stone carvers and grave iconography. Register Here.
