Cynthia M. Silva, of Plymouth, died peacefully in her home on Nov. 28 with her family by her side. Born in Plymouth on Aug. 27, 1952, the daughter of the late William and Phyllis (Houlihan) Silva, she was educated in Plymouth and was a graduate of Plymouth-Carver High School. She went on to attend Salem State College where she earned a master’s in education degree. Cynthia was a longtime educator in the Plymouth school system, having served as principal at the Nathaniel Morton School and West School until her retirement. She enjoyed shopping, was an avid reader, and enjoyed her book club and getting together with her teacher friends for their weekly luncheons.
Cynthia is survived by her sister, Patricia Neil of Plymouth, and her two nephews, Micheal and William Neil, both of Plymouth. She also leaves her great nieces, Faythe Neil, Jillian Neil, Cassidy Morrill and Maya Neil, and several cousins.
Visiting hours in the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home 373 Court St., Plymouth, will be held on Thursday Dec. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday Dec. 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church 313 Court St., Plymouth. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorial donations in her name may be made to the Plymouth Education Foundation.
