Robert. E. Webb

Robert E. Webb, of Plymouth, died peacefully on Nov. 25 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth. He was the beloved husband of Linda J. (Courtney) Webb. He was born in Framingham on Oct. 24, 1941, the son of the late Harry and Helen (Thompson) Webb. He attended Plymouth schools and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Coast Guard stationed in Hampton Beach, NH., Plum Island, and Boston Light Ship. He went to work at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy and later became a Plymouth police officer for 32 years. While working as an officer he became the Plymouth public schools safety officer and visited the schools every day, educating the students on public safety. He was also involved with Project Safe Prom. He retired from the department in 1998.

After retiring as a police office, he worked at the Plymouth Yacht Club as a launch operator for 20 years. He was a member of the Plymouth Lodge of Masons AF&AM and served as Commander of the Plymouth Post 40 American Legion and was a life member. Everyone knew him as Webby and to his grandchildren, he was papa.

Besides his wife, he leaves his loving daughters, Tanya Webb of Plymouth, Debbie Nickerson of Plymouth, Michelle Nickerson-Guerra of New Mexico, and the late Tracey Brown.

He is the cherished Papa of Owen Wright, Jordan Gillam, Lily Wright and Taylor Myers, and the great grandfather of Fallon Myers.

Visiting hours in the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court St., Plymouth will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. until noon. A graveside burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:15 p.m. Memorial donations in Webby’s name may be made to the Heart Association or American Stroke Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0.
