What’s Cooking? – Cheate Bread and Butter (Plymouth)

January 11 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Bread was the foundation of the English diet. Cheate bread, a type of whole grain bread commonly eaten by the English middle class, would have been a familiar staple to the Pilgrims.
You’ll learn to make a hearty 17th-century cheate bread dough and while it’s baking in our wood-fired oven you’ll make your own butter – the perfect addition to a slice of warm bread. Part of the What’s Cooking? Series. Allergens used in this class: gluten, dairy.
About the What’s Cooking? Programs at Plimoth Patuxet – Learn to cook some of the most popular dishes from our popular New England Harvest Feast! Have you ever made a chine of pork or Wampanoag nasaump? How about over a fire? Learn how to make these and many more historic dishes through this series of 10 classes taking place in 2025. Perfect for the cook in your family.
