It was the worst keep secret on the local beer scene. Now it’s official. Weymouth-based Vitamin Sea Brewing says it will open a taproom on the Plymouth waterfront at 98 Water St., in the building that once housed the Governor Bradford hotel.
It will be the second local for Vitamin Sea, which hopes to open in Plymouth sometime in March. The 4,000-square-foot space will feature 24 taps for beer trucked in from the company’s Weymouth facility.
Unlike some of Plymouth’s other breweries, it will serve some food, with a focus on paninis. There will also be a private event room and an outdoor patio. Vitamin Sea plans to employ about 20 people and be open seven days a week.
In addition to fresh beer on tap, canned beer and merchandise will be sold.
To accompany its announcement, Vitamin Sea unveiled “Greetings From Plymouth,” a New England IPA, brewed with citra and mosaic hops.
Vitamin Sea’s imminent arrival wasn’t the only beer news this week. Untold Brewing said it will open its taproom in North Plymouth near the Harborwalk apartment complex during the first week of February. It’s the Scituate-based brewer’s fourth location.
