A staffing company owned by a Plymouth man has been fined $2.5 million by Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell for violating state labor laws.
The company, Concierge Services, is owned by Gregory Doyle. Its office is on Franklin Street in Boston, but the company also has a Plantation Road mailing address in Plymouth.
Doyle did not respond to messages seeking comment.
Concierge provides services for high-end residential properties in the Boston area, including staffing for front desks, receiving packages, assisting residents, and screening and announcing visitors. It also provides door attendants and pool attendants.
The company’s website says that “great care and consideration is given to the selection, training, and placement of staff.”
The attorney general’s office, however, found that it failed to pay minimum wage and overtime, failed to pay employees on time, made improper deductions from their paychecks, did not allow them to take sick leave, and did not pay them for unused sick leave.
The violations occurred between 2018 and 2021, according to a press release from Campbell’s office.
Under Massachusetts law, employees earn one hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked and must be allowed to take sick leave after 90 days of employment.
“When a company repeatedly violates our wage and benefits laws, the workers and their families suffer, and sadly some of these violations took place during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic,” Campbell said.
Her office declined to provide details of the violations.
