Ellen P. Butler

Ellen P. (O’Brien) Butler, 81, of Plymouth, died Tuesday, Feb. 20 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Charles K. Butler, and the daughter of the late William and Mabel (Nelson) O’Brien. Born in Boston on Feb. 25, 1942, she worked as a school teacher, beginning her career in Boston and continuing in Taunton and North Attleboro. She was educated at Boston State College and earned her master’s degree at Bridgewater State College. She, along with her family, lived in Medfield for many years, before moving to Plymouth in recent years.  She enjoyed extensive travel, watching the sunset by the ocean. An avid reader, Ellen belonged to a local book club for many years. She enjoyed a good glass of wine and dining on a delicious meal.

Besides her loving husband, Charles, she is survived by her children Chuck Butler and his wife Yeng of Milton, and Jennifer Butler of St. Louis, Missouri; her sister Kathy Patterson of Florida; and her grandchildren Camilla and Bianca Butler.

Visitation with the Butler family will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the CARTMELL – DAVIS LIFE CELEBRATION FUNERAL HOME, 619 State Road, Plymouth. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Feb. 29, at St. Bonaventure Church 803 State Road, Plymouth. Interment will be held in Glastonbury Abbey in Hingham at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Bonaventure’s Fund for the Needy, PO Box 996, Manomet, MA 02345.
