The League of Women Voters of the Plymouth area is pleased to announce two candidates forums at the end of April. They will showcase the local town elections that are contested. These forums will help the Plymouth Voter decide on the best candidate to fill each of the open seats.
The first forum will be on April 25 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Great Hall of Plymouth Town Hall.
The evening will start with short presentations by those candidates that are unopposed. Immediately following will be a forum for the two candidates vying for the one open seat on the Planning Board. The forum should last about 45 minutes.
The candidates will have two minutes to introduce themselves and their candidacy and then will be asked a series of questions composed by the LWV Voter Services committee. Response will be 60 seconds with a 30 second rebuttal if appropriate. The forum will end with a two-minute closing statement.
The event will be shown, live, by The Local Seen (formerly PACTV) and the replay will air periodically until election day – May 18. The video will be available shortly after the event and can be found here.
A second forum will be held on April 30 for the three open seats on the School Committee. This event will be held live at the School Administration Building in the Mayflower Room starting at 7 p.m. Free childcare care will be provided across the street at the Nathaniel Morton School by the YMCA. Reservations may be requested by calling 781-956-2059.
Again, each candidate will make an opening statement, reply to questions prepared by the Voter Services Committee, and then make a closing statement. The event will be recorded by EDTV and be available through the League website, PlymouthLWV.org within a few days.
The League hopes you will join us live or take advantage of the videos of the event.
Remember the election is May 18th.
