Brian Burke Finnegan

Brian Burke Finnegan, 90 of Plymouth, passed away June 26 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Plymouth Beach. He was the son of the late Herbert A. Finnegan and Francis Pratt, and brother of the late Herbert Finnegan Jr. He is pre-deceased by his late and loving wife, Constance (Connie) Hagman Finnegan.

Brian is survived by his two sons, Brian B. Finnegan Jr. of Grand Island, FL and
Darrell S. Finnegan of Jamaica Plain; his sister Maryellen Balutis of Plymouth; his beloved granddaughter Shannon Jo and husband Anish Bhatt of Arlington, VA; great grandchildren Liam and Trevor; stepdaughter Sandra Slowey of Plymouth; and stepson Michael Thrasher of Nashua, NH.

A graduate of Plymouth High School, class of 1951, Brian was in the Coast Guard form 1952-1956 serving as Radioman 2nd Class and as a relay operator for Voice of America aboard the USCGC Courier in Rhodes, Greece. Transmitting in 16 languages to Communist bloc countries in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, he provided a significant contribution to the ultimate end of the Cold War.

Brian was a former employee of Cobb & Drew Inc. in Kingston, where he worked 35 years as bookkeeper and treasurer. He was a former member of both the Cold Spring Club and Garibaldi Club and a founding member of the Kingstown Players. He enjoyed working in his yard with his wife Connie of 45 years and was happy to have seen the Red Sox win a World Series.

Visiting hours will be held in the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home 150 Court St., Plymouth on Friday, July 12, from 2 to 4 p.m.
