Community Calico Dress Event (Brockton)
February 24 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Leave your mark on Fuller Craft Museum’s Calico Dress, organized in conjunction with The Red Dress exhibition! The Calico Dress is composed of 13 separate panels, many of which have already been designed by our local partners. Three of the panels have been reserved for community members like you to contribute to on February 24th. No expertise is necessary, materials will be provided, all ages and all skill levels welcome. All contributions welcome; stay for a while or just stop in! Free and open to the public. Registration is required. Register Here.
We offer a variety of choices:
Fabric paint – help to paint a design by visual artist Amya Meshelle.
Fabric “quilting” – add your preferred fabric scrap to glue together a quilt-like design; scraps will be provided, or you may bring a meaningful scrap with you.
Crocheted or knitted flowers – make a small flower ahead of time and bring it with you to attach to the dress panel.
After completion, the Calico Dress will be placed in the museum galleries for the remainder of The Red Dress exhibition run so be sure to come back and visit to see your contribution on display! Visit our exhibitions page to learn about The Red Dress, opening February 17, 2024.
