Free Tour at The Nye Museum and Scorton Harbor Walk (Sandwich)

The Nye Museum is participating in the Cape Cod Museum Trail’s Museum Mondays in May. On Monday, May 20 the Nye Museum will be open for FREE tours from 12PM-4PM. Come get a specially guided tour of the museum by our curator before the busy start of the summer season!

Did you know that Scorton Harbor was once rich with industry including a dock and shipyard? Travel along the same cart path “old-timers” would have taken through East Sandwich to get to Scorton Harbor. Nye Historian, John Nye Cullity, will lead the walk and discuss various aspects of the geographical area as well as East Sandwich’s maritime trade. This walk will preview some information in the 2024 special exhibit, Discovering Scorton Harbor: The Forgotten Dock & Shipyard. Allow 1.5 hours for this excursion including stops along the way for rest and discussion. Wear comfortable hiking shoes and a light jacket. Water bottles and bug spray are recommended.
