Homeschool Day at the Jenney (Plymouth)
April 19 @ 9:00 am - 4:30 pm
Join us for our first annual event. A day created exclusively for homeschoolers! Start your day with a tour of the National Monument to the Forefathers and historic downtown Plymouth with a Scavenger Hunt. A few exciting historical characters may even meet you on your tour! The afternoon will Include a two-hour program with 4 – 25 minute sessions on topics such as “Stories of the Mayflower and the Pilgrims”, “Thanksgiving in the New World”, “The Pursuit of Happiness”, and “Massasoit and Hobomok”.
End your day with a visit to the fish ladder. If all goes well, we will see the herring swimming up Town Brook (hopefully they’ll be “running” at this time – after all this is nature and we can’t control these little guys!). While at the fish ladder, enjoy a talk covering the events that happened there. Your day also includes lots of hands-on crafts, music and a visit to the Jenney Interpretive Center exhibits and gift shop. Recommended ages 5 and up. Strollers are also suggested for under 5 years.
If you are staying overnight or live in the area you can attend the “Herring Run Festival” on Saturday April 20th. The festival happens on the field next to Jenney Pond. Also that day, plan a visit to the Plimoth Grist Mill located behind the Jenney and next to the fish ladder. Free to Plymouth residents on this day.
Space is limited, registration opens on our website beginning March 15th. Register Here.
