John Malcolm Brinnin-Magnet Poet Talk with Tony Kelso (Duxbury)
June 26 @ 6:00 pm
The Duxbury Rural & Historical Society welcomes Town Historian, Tony Kelso, to the King Caesar House Barn to discuss the fascinating life of John Malcolm Brinnin.
John Malcom Brinnin and his lifelong partner Bill Read had a cottage on Powder Point in Duxbury. Brinnin for years ran the famous 92nd Street Y program for Writers and Poets in New York City, where he introduced poets like Dylan Thomas to America. Like a magnet, Brinnin also attracted to Duxbury their writer friends like Truman Capone, Elizabeth Bishop, Richard Wilbur and many others to come and spent time in the quiet seaside oasis where they socialized and spent time writing.
