I read with disappointment that another bright, savvy, assertive woman is leaving Plymouth. Birgitta Kuehn’s move to Chicago is a big loss for our town.

While she often rubbed some people the wrong way, she kept those in the seats of authority and power on their toes.  She was never afraid of speaking out.

I would be remiss in not also mentioning two other exceptional women who have moved away:  Evelyn Strawn and Henrietta Consentino.  Evelyn was chair of the League of Women Voters Sustainability Committee, and Henrietta was a member of that committee who was an activist, and extremely knowledgeable concerning all things related to Holtec.  I learned a great deal from both of them.

So, goodbye, Birgitta.  I wish you well.  Your boots, and those of Evelyn and Henrietta will be hard to fill.  But, not impossible.  I invite you to a meeting of the League of Women Voters, if you have any doubts.
