Gary Garber, 71, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and dog, Shelby, on Aug. 23.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Dianne, and his devoted sons: Owen and his wife Jodi; Wesley and his fiancée Kristia; Jared; and Derek and his wife Rachel. He was a proud grandfather to Brody, Reilly, and Otto, and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his granddaughter, Summer. He also leaves behind his sister, Nancy Ziembo and her husband, Charles; his brother in-laws Dale Wesley and his wife Michelle; Gary Wesley and his wife Elaine; Stephen Wesley and his wife Donna; Brian Wesley and his wife Barbara, many nephews and nieces; and his grand fur babies Belle, Theo, Gemma, and Penny. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Owen Garber.
Gary had a lifelong passion for American muscle cars, a hobby that saw him frequent auto shows and take exhilarating rides in his cherished Corvette. His love for cars was matched by his enjoyment of NASCAR and drag racing. He often spent weekends watching races or heading to New Hampshire for vacations riding along the Kancamagus Highway to see the foliage and mountains. Gary also relished his time at casinos, riding his motorcycle, and dining out at his favorite restaurant, Fisher’s.
Above all, Gary’s heart belonged to his family and his dog, Shelby. His home was filled with love, laughter, and the occasional bark, creating a warm environment that all who knew him will sorely miss.
A private service will be held to honor Gary’s life. The Garber family is being assisted by Cartmell-Davis in Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Last Hope K9 Rescue or Shriners Hospital for Children.
