George Lavigne III, 56, of Plymouth, died Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth. He was the son of Donna (Read) Lavigne of Plymouth and the late George Lavigne Jr. Born in Taunton on July 29, 1967, he was educated at Plymouth-Carver High School. George worked as a technician for many years.
A unique and interesting man, George enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors and diving. He was a devoted fan of all Boston sports and had an interest in herpetology, the study of snakes and reptiles. An avid reader, he was a well-read person who held many interests, such as cowboys and pirates, comic illustration, and playing the drums while jamming with his musician friends. George was artistic and smart, and marched to the beat of a different drummer.
Besides his devoted mother, George is survived by his three daughters, Hannah Lavigne of Middleborough, Emily Lavigne of Plymouth, and Sarah Lavigne of Plymouth; his brothers, Todd Lavigne and his wife Lora of Wilmington, and Eric Lavigne of Warwick, RI; his granddaughters, Marceline Jefferson and Summer Lavigne; and his former wife, Jodi Lavigne.
Visitation with the Lavigne family will be held on George’s birthday, Monday, July 29, at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, July 30, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Vine Hills Cemetery in Plymouth.
