Could this be Plymouth’s “Jaws” in the making? Well, no, but the town on Friday was the site of a shoot for an independent film called “Great White.”
A production crew from New York City set up at the entrance of Plymouth Beach to film in the town-owned parking lot next to the old Bert’s restaurant on Warren Avenue. “Great White” stars Jon Bass of “Baywatch” fame.
Robert Ravenscroft, the producer on site, described the film as a “deep drama about a guy with emotional problems, sort of a cross between ‘What about Bob?’ and ‘Good Will Hunting.’”
There was no mention of a ravenous shark.
The crew had been filming in Sandwich for a couple of weeks, then came to Plymouth on Thursday to film at Aubuchon Hardware in Manomet and Friday at the beach, Ravenscroft said. The film is being made by Pan Up Productions.

There have been at least two other movies called “Great White” – a 2021 production with the tagline “Take your last breath,” and a 1998 straight-to-video version based on shark attacks along the Jersey Shore in 1916.
As far as we can tell, the scariest aspect of the new “Great White” might be scenes that show the eyesore that was once Bert’s.
