Harriet (Poirier) Guertin of Plymouth, 98, died peacefully on May 16. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Guertin. She was born in Plymouth on January 18, 1926, a daughter of the late Arthur and Theresa (Carpenter) Poirier. She was educated in Plymouth and was a lifelong resident of the town. She was a graduate of the Morton Hospital School of Nursing.
Harriett had a long career in nursing working as a nurse at Lakeville Hospital, Jordan Hospital, and private duty nursing. She was a member of St. Peter’s Parish in Plymouth were she was a member of the Women’s League and secretary and treasurer for Catholic Family Life.
She is survived by her son, Arthur L. Guertin of Plymouth; and her daughters Margaret “Maggie” Luongo of Plymouth, Suzanne Guertin of Plymouth and Theresa Guertin of Plymouth. She was the sister of Louise Gascoyne of Plymouth and Florida. She was the cherished grandmother of Christian, Douglas, Nick, Danny, Carissa and Chantal; and the great grandmother of Gage, Elle, Kailey, Thomas, and Melody.
Visitation will be at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home 373 Court St. Plymouth, on Thursday, May 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 31, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Plymouth. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Memorial donations in her name may be made to the Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA, 02379.
