Helen T. (Boles) Young of Plymouth, formerly of Dorchester, died peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday evening, May 11. She was the beloved wife of the late Vance Steven Young. She was born in Dorchester on February 5, 1945, daughter of the late John J. and Helen (Bean) Boles. She was educated in Dorchester and was a graduate of Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School. Helen worked most of her life as a business manager for several companies – WBET/WCAV Radio, Pilgrim Rubbish, and Ravinski Chiropractic. She was a member of the Blue Knights motorcycle club and a director of the National Gold Wing Road Riders Association. She enjoyed her time at Scusset Beach in Sagamore and at Lake George, NY. She enjoyed her time spent with her family and her many friends.
Helen is survived by her son Thomas Young and his wife, Eileen, of Hanson; her daughters Cheryl Rattigan-Pettijohn and her husband David of Texas, and Kristina McGoff and her husband Shawn of Plympton. She was the mother of the late Frank Rattigan, who died in October 2023. She was mother-in-law to Cheryl Rattigan of New Hampshire.
She was the cherished grandmother of Corey, Erin, Mackenzie, Gavin, Kira, Jarrid, Krystopher, Brittany, and the late Dallas; great grandmother of Landyn, Kaylee and Tyler; and the sister of the late James Boles, Hugh Boles, Richard Boles, John Boles and Dorothy “Dolly” Shea.
Visiting hours in the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home 619 State Road, Plymouth, are on Thursday May 23, from 2 to 4:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Private burial will be at a later date.
