State Rep. Kathleen LaNatra, a Democrat whose district includes North Plymouth, is running for re-election.
LaNatra, a Kingston resident, made the announcement in an email Saturday. She also represents Kingston, Plympton, and parts of Halifax, Middleborough, and Pembroke.
LaNatra sits on the powerful Joint Ways and Means Committee, which controls state spending. As a member of that board, last year, she was able to include $25,000 in funds for the Plymouth Waterfront District, money the association said it may use to pay for flowers to adorn outdoor dining “parklets” on Main and Court streets this spring and summer.
Before her first election to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 2018, she served on the Kingston Board of Selectmen.
In 2022, LaNatra ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. She went on to defeat her Republican opponent, Eric Meschino, a Plymouth lobsterman, by 52 percent to 44 percent margin in the general election. Meschino did not immediately respond to an email asking whether he will run again this year. No other Democratic candidate has announced a run for the 12th Plymouth district.
In addition to her state position, LaNatra is a real estate agent and a personal trainer.
