Editor’s note: The League of Women Voters of the Plymouth Area on Sept. 14 said that this lecture has been cancelled due to circumstances beyond its control.

The League of Women Voters of the Plymouth Area is concerned about the abundance of mis- and dis- information that is surrounding this election season. It is often difficult to tell if photos, videos and stories are real. As the election approaches, detecting misinformation (false or misleading info that spreads unintentionally) and disinformation (info that’s designed to deceive) will become increasingly challenging as deep fakes grow more sophisticated.

The League invites you to join us at a forum given by Dennis Hohengasser, a volunteer for AARP, at the Plymouth South Middle School Lecture Hall at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, who will discuss “Eleven Ways to Fight Election Misinformation.”

Dennis Hohengasser is an AARP Massachusetts longtime volunteer. He has been doing his Fraud Watch Network presentations around the state for over eight years and is an expert on fraud and scams. He travels across the Commonwealth giving presentations on fraudulent activity. Join the conversation and gain a better understanding of how misinformation can be destructive and learn how you can spot it.
