Lorraine A. Souza

Lorraine A. Souza, 91, of Plymouth, died Friday, April 26, 2024, at Plymouth Crossings. She was the wife of the late John P. Souza, and the daughter of the late Gil and Bertha (Cunha) Silva. She was born in Plymouth on July 18, 1932, and graduated from Plymouth High School, class of 1950.

Lorraine worked as a bookkeeper for many years, first with Puritan Clothing Company and later with the Ocker’s Company in Plymouth. Lorraine took up gardening in later years and played the piano. She enjoyed knitting and sewing, and had a love for music and cooking. She was an election poll worker at Hedge School and a member of the North Plymouth Steering Committee for many years into her late 80s.

Lorraine along with her husband enjoyed worldwide travel. They took many trips to Europe, the Mediterranean, Senegal, Egypt, Italy, Russia, Finland, Brazil, France, Greece, and the Panama Canal, among other trips. She loved watching the Tales of Wells Fargo and snacking on her favorite treat, chocolate, of any sort.

But her pride and joy were her family, especially her beloved grandchildren who affectionately called her “Bam” thanks to her first-born grandchild, Jillian.

She is survived by her daughters Kathleen Woodworth and her husband Lee of Plymouth, and Cynthia Arruda and her husband Jesse of Plymouth; her brother Dennis P. Silva and his wife Theresa of Plymouth; her sister Diane P. Condon and her husband Thomas of Plymouth; her five grandchildren Jillian Hopke and her husband Steven of Winter Garden, Florida, Adam Woodworth and his wife Mollie of Yarmouth, Maine, David Arruda and his wife Erin of Plymouth, Kevin Arruda and his wife Elizabeth of Boulder, Colorado, and Catherine Cook and her husband Justin of Plymouth, and her seven great grandchildren, Juliet and Isabel Woodworth, Gwen Hopke, Natalie, Zachary, Luke and Finn Arruda.
