Nominations for the 2025 Edward W. Santos Community Service Award (The Ed Award), an annual award that recognizes individuals for their service to Plymouth whether it be a lifetime, or a year, is now open. The nomination period runs from April to August 31.
In a world where communities are often divided, and fewer individuals are willing to serve, the Ed Award is intended to inspire as well as recognize those that give of themselves, their time, resources and expertise to make Plymouth a better place. It is hoped that the inspiration reaches far and wide because of the people that visit Plymouth during the year. If just one takes the inspiration of community service home to their city or town, the ripple effect could change the world.
As it was with Ed’s life, contributions matter and make a difference. Ed’s impact was profound, reaching all areas of the community. He played a key role in bringing new businesses and employment to the community, guided countless local organizations, mentored emerging leaders, and acted selflessly to be sure that all had a chance to be the best they could be.
It was often said that if something needed doing in Plymouth the first call was to Ed Santos. Edward W. Santos, and those like him, come around rarely, The Ed Award celebrates those who are worthy enough to stand in Ed’s shadow.
