Consider it a sign of how the Pinehills has grown into a town within the town: Clark Road, a once relatively quiet stretch off Route 3 connecting Long Pond and Beaver Dam roads, is getting a major makeover to better accommodate traffic going in and out of the massive residential community.
The town this week announced the start of roadwork between the intersection of Clark Road and Route 3 to Meeting Way, one of the routes into the Pinehills.
The work entails widening Clark Road to allow room for dedicated left-turn-only lanes at Pinehills Drive and Meeting Way. As part of that, two raised medians will be built – one east of Pinehills Drive and the other east of Meeting Way. In addition, traffic lights will be installed on Clark Road where it intersects with Pinehills Drive.
In a press release, James Downey, Plymouth’s assistant director of public works, said that Clark Road will remain open during the work, “but due to the inherent nature of construction, some level of disturbance will be inevitable.” There will be temporary lane shifts and reduced speeds, Downey said.
In other words, expect traffic delays and plan accordingly.
The town did not say how long it expects the project to take, but weather at this time of year could become a factor.
Downey asked for the public’s “cooperation and patience” during the project and said anyone with questions can call him at 508-830-4162, ext. 12102, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
