Taking a minute or two to read this might keep you from getting stuck in Manomet traffic for many minutes.

As part of a water main replacement project, the town’s Department of Public Works, working with private contractor KJS,  on Wednesday (Oct. 23) started paving over recently excavated trenches along several roads in Manomet. The affected streets are:

White Horse Road, Robbins Hill Road, Priscilla Beach Road, and Manomet Point Road (from State Road to Taylor Avenue).

In a press release, the town said the paving work will be done on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

“During scheduled work, the DPW and contractor will make every effort to maintain one lane of traffic, but detours may be required,” it said. “There will be signage and detailed police officers to direct traffic. The public is advised to drive with caution and plan for traffic delays and temporary access restrictions.”

In other words, avoid driving on these streets during the listed hours, if you can.

The town did not provide a timeframe for when the paving will be completed, but it noted that the schedule is dependent on “unforeseen circumstances” and the weather. (The current forecast calls for dry conditions through the weekend and beyond.)

If you have questions about the project, call the DPW’s Water Division Monday through Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., at 508-830-4162, ext. 12141.

Meantime, you might want to ask the boss about the possibility of working from home – or maybe even enjoy the unseasonably nice weather by taking a vacation day or two.
