I am writing you related to your recent article exposing traffic infractions in Plymouth. Consistent with your red light observations, this Pinehills resident has recently witnessed trucks routinely ignoring stop signs in our community.
There is an intersection with Long Ridge Road near our home. That intersection has stop signs at every corner in the intersection. About 10 days ago, as I was walking down the street near that intersection, I observed a cement truck on Long Ridge roll through a stop sign at the intersection without stopping. The “good news” is he rolled through slowly, but apparently, he did not understand what stop meant.
About a week later I coincidentally followed a truck towing an asphalt spreading machine down Long Ridge Road, then Sacrifice Rock Road. If I remember correctly, there are four stop signs along the route before reaching Old Sandwich Road. The truck I was following rolled through every stop sign along that route. In simple terms, he ignored the stop signs.
Finally, a couple of days ago, I saw another truck run the stop sign at the four-way intersection I mentioned previously.
This ignoring of stop signs seems to be consistent with your article highlighting drivers ignoring red lights. I will add that I have never seen police enforcing traffic laws in the Pinehills. I may be wrong on this. But, enforcing traffic laws does not seem to be a priority for the local police.
So, in summary, I am routinely observing trucks ignore stop signs in our community. Truck drivers don’t seem to think stop signs means they should stop.
