First of all thank you, thank you, thank you, to the Plymouth Independent for shining the light.  Our town has been without accountable reporting for too long.

Back in the town election of May 2023, the voters were asked to vote on a revised town charter.

One of the proposed changes to the charter was to establish an Appointments Advisory Committee, whose charge was to review all candidates’ applications for appointments to town boards and committees.  Very recently, some very qualified candidates were not re-appointed and some candidates who were appointed were perceived as unqualified or having a conflict of interest.

The voters turned down the proposed changes to the charter.  There is no Appointments Advisory Committee.  There is an application process for the persons seeking appointments to the town’s boards and committees.  Perhaps there should be a process for the appointing authority.  A simple Internet search might be included in that process, making sure that due diligence is performed before making appointments.
