There’s still time to register to vote in Plymouth’s annual town election. The official voting day is May 17, but you can cast a ballot earlier in-person or by mail.
To register, visit the state’s Election Division. The deadline is Wednesday, May 7, at 5 p.m.
If you’re already registered, you can check or change your personal information – including your address and party affiliation.
Voters will elect members of the Select Board, Planning Board, School Committee, Town Meeting, Redevelopment Authority, and Housing Authority, as well as a Town Moderator.
They will also vote in a binding ballot question on whether to abandon the civil service process for hiring police officers, and a non-binding question on whether to urge town officials to press the state to stop Holtec International from evaporating treated water from the former Pilgrim nuclear power plant in Manomet.
A sample ballot can be viewed here. (Note that Town Meeting candidates are precinct specific.)
To vote by mail, first fill out this application to receive a ballot. The deadline to request one is Monday, May 5. Once you’ve filled out the request form, send it to the Town Clerk’s office at Town Hall by snail mail – 26 Court St., Plymouth, MA, 02360 – or by email to ballots@plymouth-ma.gov. You can also bring it to Town Hall in person.
Once you have a ballot and have filled it out, you have until 7 p.m. on Election Day (May 17) to get it to Town Hall.
Early in-person voting in the atrium at Town Hall (not at precinct polling places) begins at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, and ends on Wednesday, May 14. For complete dates and hours, go here.
Election Day voting locations have been reduced from 14 to 5. You can only vote in the precinct where you live. A list of precinct polling places can be found here.
